Over a thousand people have been killed in different VDCs of Sindhupalchowk district due to landslides that swiftly followed the earthquake on Saturday. Police have confirmed over a thousand deaths from the villages of Sangachowk, Thulo Surubari, Pipaldanda,among others. The police added they expect the death toll to increase further as new information is collected. The death toll from Saturdays 7.9 magnitude earthquake had climbed to more than 4500, and reports trickling in from remote areas suggested it would rise significantly. The situation report says that 35 of the 75 districts in Nepal are reported to be affected by the earthquake, with the most affected districts being Dhading, Gorkha, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Nuwakot, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Ramechhap. Nepalese officials scrambled on Monday to get aid from the main airport to people left homeless and hungry by a devastating earthquake two days earlier, while thousands tired of waiting fled the capital Kathmandu for the surrounding plains.
